General information
Southwark Tigers Cheerleaders are the 1st and only cheerleading squad in Southwark. Throughout the year, we train to perform at local and national events, and to represent the London Borough of Southwark. Our Cheerleaders of all ages have lots of fun, learning dance routines, chants, stunts, cheering, taking part in parades and making friends.

We work hard to make opportunities available for our members to  enjoy cheerleading - performing, competing and achieving at all levels.

Cheerleaders can take progressive dance examinations adjudicated by an examiner from the International Dance Teachers Association [ IDTA].

Older Cheerleaders [ 14+] can be assessed to undertake the Duke of Edinburgh Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold Level.

Our club is affiliated to the Southwark Tigers Community Sports Club and is a registered charity. All our staff work voluntarily and exhaustingly, giving up their time and expertise for the good of the club. All voluntary staff are police checked[CRB] are NCSSE qualified Cheerleading Coaches. Our club is financially independent and we work hard at fundraising to facilitate the many events our cheerleaders take part in and further, to keep costs to families to a minimum.

We expect our cheerleaders to be committed to attend our training sessions in order to build upon our strong and dedicated team.

   Established cheerleading involves three specific areas of development:

                           Personal Performance Development

                       - Choreographed dance & jumps 
                       - Gymnastics and partner stunts 

                             The Spirit of Team work

                        - Working together as a team 
                    - Positive Attitude & Peer Dependency
                          - Safe stunt management 

                    Voice techniques - Crowd projection

                           - Crowd leadership/control 
                           - Chants and Cheers 

Training:

Training for Preps and Peewees takes place at Thurlow Lodge on Fridays – 5.30- 7pm prompt. Weekly subs are £2.50. Subs may be paid in advance or on the day of training. Subs are still payable even if cheerleaders do not attend.

 Training for Juniors and Seniors takes place at Thurlow Lodge on Fridays – 5.30-7.30 prompt. Weekly subs are £3.50. Subs may be paid in advance or on the day of training. As noted above, subs are still payable even if cheerleaders do not attend.
