Sports Equity & Equal Opportunities Policy Statement
Southwark Tigers Rugby Club is committed to ensuring that equity is incorporated across all aspects of its development. In doing so it acknowledges and adopts the following Sport England definition of sports equity:
o Sports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the culture and structure of sport to ensure it becomes equally accessible to everyone in society.
o The children within the club are learning and growing. We believe it is the responsibility of all adults to actively ensure that our players are encouraged to develop an outlook on life that reflects a mutual respect for each other, of our cultural diversity, our different needs and of our environment.
o Southwark Tigers Rugby Club will seek to ensure that all adults and children associated with the Club, promote an ethos of equality of opportunity regardless of age, gender, ability, ethnicity, culture, religious belief, sexuality or socio-economic status.
o Our Club is proud of the rich cultural diversity of its members and will endeavour to respond appropriately to members with special needs and/or religious considerations.
o All club members have responsibility to challenge discriminatory behaviour and promote equality of opportunity. Southwark Tigers is committed to ensuring that everyone has the right to enjoy their sport, membership and other related activities in an environment free from threat of intimidation, harassment or other discriminatory abuses.
o This club will address strict and serious sanctions to any incidence of discriminatory behaviour in accordance with the club disciplinary procedures.
