Southwark Tigers Incident and Accident Guidelines

  • Take measures to ensure that further danger is avoided.
  • Alert the first aider and explain the situation.
  • In the event of an injury requiring specialist treatment, call for an ambulance.
  • Do no move someone with major injuries. Wait for the ambulance.
  • Contact the injured person's parents/guardians. 
  • As soon as possible complete the club Accident/Incident form which is kept in the club first aid kit. If off site record the following information : Name of the person, time of incident, what happened, what you did, who else saw the incident.
  • An incident where an individual who has sustained an injury is admitted to a hospital must be reported to the RFU serious injuries department on 0800 298 0102.  (You do not need to report players who have gone to A&E and have been sent home).
  • Any player dying within 6 hours of the game or training session must be reported to the RFU serious injuries department.
  • Head injuries - any players who injure their head during training or a match must take a written note to their parents/guardians explaining the incident and advising vigilence.
